World Class Blues in the O.C. - Kim' Wilson's Blues All Stars: A Photo Essay

Thanks to all the discerning blues fans who made their way to the Tiki Bar Sunday evening to hear Kim Wilson’s Blues All Stars. It was an incredible show as all folks in attendance will attest. Your support of World Class Blues is commendable.

The All Stars are Barrelhouse Chuck (piano), Billy Flynn (guitar), Randy Bermudes (bass) and beating his way through this wicked, wicked world, the one and only Richard Innes (drums). Kirk Fletcher (guitar) was also on the bandstand for every note. It was great to finally see (and hear) “Eli” at the Tiki. The whole crew shared the stage with the incomparable Big Al Blake as well as Chef Denis (harmonica). I had a blast hanging with Paulie Cerra (tenor sax/vocals), who is rapidly becoming a fan favorite at the Tiki. It was great to hear him play and sing again. The M.C. of the extravaganza was the incomparable Barry G. Nicely done Barry.

Also thanks to Blues Chris for all his support. Thanks Liz for working the door for me, so I could hang with the other Big Mac who flew in from Denver, CO for the show. There is nothing quite like listening to music with my brother. Also it was nice to meet Beth who flew in from Rochester, NY to hear some blues. It was great to see Charlie Lange (Bluebeat Music/KZSC 88.1) from Santa Cruz at the gig in an unofficial capacity just letting his hair down (such as it is). Velinda again kept us satiated with some seriously good groceries. You are the bomb Velinda!

All thanks and kudos go to a man I am proud to call my friend, the one and only John Reilly. J.R.’s dedication, passion, sacrifice and love of this music goes beyond what many of you could imagine.

Editors Note: The Kim Wilson Blues All Stars show at the Tiki Bar will be the last of these for a while. World Class Blues in the O.C., who has been putting these shows on in association with BLUES JUNCTION Productions, will stand down for a couple of months as a tribute to a man who has been a like a member of our family, David “Kid” Ramos. We ask that our loyal customers who might attend upcoming shows at the Tiki Bar instead participate in the benefits that are being planned. The proceeds of these shows go directly to the Ramos family to offset some of the medical expenses associated with the treatment Kid is receiving.
