Generally recognized as the first person in the business of the blues, was W. C. Handy.  In 1903, at a train junction in Tutwiler, Mississippi, he heard a blues musician playing his guitar for whomever passed by.  The sounds he heard that day inspired Handy to be a great purveyor of an emerging American folk art form. 

In the intervening years since that epiphanic event, the business of the blues and the entire music industry has seen changes, fads, trends and "flavors of the month" come and go. The blues is still with us. It's a part of who we are. It has given birth to virtually every genre of American Music and continues to influence musicians across the globe.
